Technical advancement and Promotion of Aerospace-related industry in Japan.
1. Promotion of Aerospace industry and technology
Recently Japanese technology leads the world in the various fields; such as the manufacture of aircrafts and rockets, and also part processing. The biggest industry area, Tokyo, will inform higher technology to the world, and we will we aim for more development in aerospace industry and manufacture.
2. The Role of Japan
The importance of Asian area for the world trade and economy has been raised as the entire East Asia would be placed as "Factory of the World" and functioned well in recent years. Moreover, we believe the importance of holding this in the world city "Tokyo" is very meaningful.
AEROSPACE INDUSTRY EXHIBITION TOKYO (ASET) was held in November 2009, jointly organized by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Tokyo Big Sight Inc. It was the first exhibition specializing in aerospace technology held in Tokyo, and effectively displayed our country's high-level technologies related to aerospace. At the same time, the event welcomed a large number of visitors from both inside and outside Japan, and provided forums for active business talks. We are planning to hold the second ASET in the fall of 2011, aiming to offer forums that are even more international and expansive.

The tokyo Metropolitan Government positions the aerospace industry as a strategic industrial sector in view of the broad range of related technological fields, high technological repercussion effects, and strong growth potentials. Beginning in FY2007, it has carried out diverse measures to enhance the technological and quality control capabilities of Tokyo's small businesses which have outstanding technologies, with the goal of having them enter the aircraft industry. In this way, through measures to support small businesses' entry into the aircraft industry, Tokyo promotes the enhancement of these companies' skills and capabilities, and works to reinvigorate industries and foster new industries. It also believes that these business projects will lead to the promotion and development of the aerospace industry.

Tokyo is home to Japan's largest industrial cluster which has outstanding technological power. At the same time, with a sharp increase in international flights to and from Haneda Airport in 2010, it will develop even more powerfully as one of the world's foremost international cities. Your participation in this exhibition held in Tokyo, a city that is expected to grow even further as a major business center, will no doubt be an extremely effective means for capturing new business opportunities and expanding your network.

In October 2011, Tokyo Big Sight Inc. and the Tokyo Metropolitan Government will hold the AEROSPACE INDUSTRY EXHIBITION TOKYO (ASET) 2011.

It is said that the volume of worldwide passenger and cargo air transport will grow at an annual average rate exceeding 4% over the next two decades and that in twenty years over 30% of this transport volume will be undertaken by the Asia-Pacific region. Moreover, in line with this trend, the value of new airplane sales throughout the world is expected to top US$3 trillion.

Under these circumstances, we strongly believe that the advanced processing technologies and development capabilities that Japanese corporations and research institutes possess will contribute greatly to the promotion of the global aerospace industry and the enhancement of technological capabilities.

The first ASET was held in November 2009 under the theme of helping corporations to enter the aerospace industry. The event was a success, with a total of 287 corporations and organizations taking part as exhibitors, and over 20,000 visitors during the 3-day period.

In addition to this theme, the second ASET will focus on the aircraft after-market sectors (industries such as maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO), and parts manufacture approval (PMA) parts), which are said to comprise a huge market.

By releasing the latest aerospace industry technologies and information from Tokyo, the worldfs leading global metropolis, companies can expand business opportunities, build networks and strengthen their brand power. In addition, technologies used in the aerospace industry have a high likelihood for business matching with other industries and sectors, so we believe that we can expect to see the creation of new collaborations transcending industrial frameworks.

We sincerely hope that you will understand the objectives of holding this exhibition, and decide to take an active part in the event as an exhibitor. We look forward to your participation.
