The air transport industry in Japan is facing a revolutionary period today. Competition is increasing due to the implementation of the open-sky policy and a number of new services by overseas LCCs as new entrants. Upon the first anniversary of the commencement of the new international operations at Haneda airport, the prospects for the air transport industry, such as the direction of civil aviation policy, the strategies of air carriers, the strengthening of alliances among air carriers and the emergence of the LCCs, are discussed with representatives of the government and air carriers. |
