When a solar flare occurs on the surface of the sun, an elegant aurora appears in the polar region of the earth, but it causes direct harm to artificial satellites and astronauts, and telecommunications, global positioning systems and aircraft on the earth’s surface are also adversely affected. The current status and prospects of space weather prediction, which predicts and estimates the activity of the sun and its effect on the human biosphere, will be introduced and discussed. |

“Low-cost manufacturing process of aircraft structures using VaRTM” - Through the development of JAXA low-cost composite materials |
| |
Outline： Autoclaves (high-temperature, high-pressure forming) are commonly used for the manufacture of composite materials used in aircraft structures. As autoclaves are not used in the VaRTM forming process, it is an effective method for the reduction of manufacturing cost, because it does not require expensive equipment. For use in aircraft structures, improvement of the process to realize the stable high-quality of the product is essential. Approaches made by a forming manufacturer for the improvement of quality will be introduced. |
